Right To Be Protected

While thinking back to the 2025 National Children's Month Celebration, a thought occurred to me regarding the digital era's need to ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of our kids. The theme "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!" is a powerful slogan that deeply resonates and challenges us to take a stand against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

More and more, the Philippine government is stepping in to assure not only children's rights and dignity but also their safety as a whole and it is very encouraging to see the measures being taken This is thanks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) that are pouring resources into these endeavors through professional alliances and child protection campaigns against all forms of abuse and exploitation. The child-friendly digital ecosystem the government envisaged is commendable.

Observing the efforts being made, I am convinced that it is not only the government's responsibility but also ours as a society, to aid in the process of making a place where the children can grow and develop in a safe and secure manner. We can be the difference makers by remaining alert and notifying the authorities about any doubtful online activities, supporting the non-profit organizations that are always ready to do whatever it takes to protect the kids, and promoting the policies that give the utmost priority to child safety.

Let us band together to ensure a risk-free and protected online world for the kids. By combining our efforts, we can become effective and secure the non-adult environment for our offspring.
