Right To Be Protected

While thinking back to the 2025 National Children's Month Celebration, a thought occurred to me regarding the digital era's need to ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of our kids. The theme "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!" is a powerful slogan that deeply resonates and challenges us to take a stand against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. More and more, the Philippine government is stepping in to assure not only children's rights and dignity but also their safety as a whole and it is very encouraging to see the measures being taken This is thanks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) that are pouring resources into these endeavors through professional alliances and child protection campaigns against all forms of abuse and exploitation. Elpidio Quirino: A President of Resilience and Progress

Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines, is a figure of great significance in the countries history. Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quiriho's early life was marked by hard work and determination. He worked as a barrio teacher while studying at Vigan High School, later transferring to Manila High School, and eventually earning a law degree from thye University of the Philippines in 1915.  Quirinio's entry in to politics began in 1919 when he was elected to the Philippine Congress, representing Ilocos Sur. He went to serve as a senator from 1925- 1935 and played a crucial role in securing the Tydings-McDuffie Act, which paved the way for the Philippine independence, as Vice President under Manuel Roxas, Quirino assumed the presidency in 1948 after Roxas' untimely death.
