Old is Gold

Image
They say Old is Gold and this may be the reason why I'm interested to the chunky pages  of classic pages of classic literatures that were written before I was born. There's something divine within these old stories that resonates within us until this day. Like a wind flowing in a random direction, these stories flows the truth about the world and an ink that never fades. Classic literatures about mystery, morality, madness, suffering-- aren't just themes that you see on those books, they are like a reflection towards us especially the ones we still haven't fully understood or uncovered. In these chunky pages, I've concluded that I need that I read these types of books not just for my own curiosity but I read them because of experience. The minds of thinkers who saw beyond the nature of humans--amazed me. One literature come from Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, a book filled with regrets, suffering and redemption. One quote that me like lightning : " I...

No Filipino Left Behind: A Letter to the President

Image
Dear President, I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirit. I am writing to bring an important issue to your attention and respectfully request your consideration and action First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your dedication and for having the heart to strive to make the Philippines a great nation. The purpose of this letter is to highlight a significant concern that warrants your attention. Poverty is a crucial problem that every country experiences and it hurts to see many people experiencing this like imagine you are a person who's using your phone complaining because the internet went out but on the outside of your window there are many people dying because of starvation, kids begging in the streets, Adults who steal so they can eat, etc. It's  sad that we live in this cruel world where people suffer every day. The impact of this issue has been felt by the community and as young as we are—us students are also affected by this iss...

A new beginning

Through this quarter, I've gained valuable insights into my strengths and weaknesses, discovering the importance of time management and prioritization, effective communication strategies for personal and professional relationships, and resilience and adaptability in the face of uncertainty.   I've faced my fair share of challenges this quarter, from juggling multiple responsibilities and tasks that often left me feeling overwhelmed, to wrestling with self-doubt and imposter syndrome that threatened to undermine my confidence, and navigating the complexities of relationships and conflicts that tested my patience and understanding. To address these challenges, I've created schedules and to-do lists to stay organized, sought guidance from mentors and peers, and practiced self-care and reflection to build confidence and clarity. Additionally, I've celebrated my achievements along the way, no matter how small, to keep myself motivated and moving fo...

Nutri Spark

Image
President Ferdinand Marcos declared July as Nutrition Month under Presidential Decree No.491, signed on June 25, 1974, according to the National Nutrition Council. This decree aimed to raise awareness among Filipinos about the importance of good nutrition. Fifty-one years have passed since the declaration of Nutrition Month —thankfully, it still strives and spreads awareness among Filipinos, especially students. In Ilocos Sur National High School, every July, we celebrate Nutrition Month by doing many activities, such as poster making, cooking competitions, and many more But on July 14, our ICT teacher, Ma'am Evelyn, unexpectedly announced that there would be a Nutri Quiz that day. Of course, we, Maxwell ( Our section ) students, would not back down, which is why I volunteered, and then a classmate of mine, Cyril, also volunteered to be my partner. We walked through the library since that was where the Nutri Quiz would occur. We walked through those hallways knowing absolutely not...

A Greener Tomorrow

Participating in the clean-up drive was a truly eye-opening experience that left a lasting impression on me. It not only allowed me to contribute to the community but also made me realize the significant impact of our daily actions on the environment. Witnessing the amount of waste and debris that had accumulated in our surroundings was a stark reminder of the importance of responsible waste management and the need for sustainable practices. What struck me most was the collective effort of volunteers from diverse backgrounds coming together to make a difference. Seeing people unite for a common cause, despite their differences, was truly inspiring. It showed me the power of community action and the positive change that can be achieved when individuals work together towards a shared goal. This experience has motivated me to adopt more sustainable practices in my daily life, such as reducing plastic use, recycling, and properly disposing of waste. It has also encouraged me to conti...
