Tara Na! Fiesta na sa Vigan!

On‍‌‍‍‌ January 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM, Vigan’s streets were bustling with people for the Longganisa Streetdancing Competition. However, the students from Ilocos Sur National High School were the main attraction. They won the championship by delivering a very unique and moving performance that gave new energy to the city’s ancient ‍‌‍‍‌traditions.

The‍‌‍‍‌ city was bursting with excitement on January 23, 2026, when Vigan was the venue for the Bigueño Agtubtubo Clash of Talents, a thrilling and intense talent night that confirmed the young Ilocano stars are already here.

It was such an incredible night that in addition to the local talents having a fierce battle of skills on stage, the guest artists turned the place into a concert hall, with the smooth tunes of Dionela and the spectacular vocal range of Gigi keeping the crowd from going home until the very ‍‌‍‍‌end.

Around‍‌‍‍‌ the time of January 24, 2026, instead of street-dancing down the lane Vigan City stood for drums to be exchanged with the glitz and glamour of the Metro Vigan Dance Sports Club Night, a night of luxurious ballroom sweeping and excitement of the high-stake raffle draw thrills that defined the event.

An old-school vibe from the good times was re-lived when the OPM icon Mr. Gino Padilla started his performance, singing to the audience his powerful hits like "Closer You and I" and "Gusto Kita." His unforgettable voice added a romantic touch from the old times to the event, providing a great tandem to the dancers' charm and leaving the crowd hypnotized by a Filipino pop music maestro at his ‍‌‍‍‌best

The‍‌‍‍‌ city streets of Vigan were transformed into a grand celebration for the entire city on January 25, 2026, as the Grand Parade took over. Schools, local businesses, and different organizations put on a colorful parade that was visible from a distance. The atmosphere was cheerful and somewhat chaotic as the parade floats came by, and the audience eagerly received various giveaways such as candies, calendars, and packs of tissues.

Anyway, the top of the day's events was quite a "main character" moment: as I was recording the parade, a DWRS personality saw me filming him and shouted my name through the speakers, which made the fun day extremely special and ‍‌‍‍‌unforgettable.

Reflecting‍‌‍‍‌ on my trip to Vigan last week, I still can't stop smiling. The entire experience was just wonderful and maybe even more so as I was lucky enough to share the crazy ride with my friends. We started the day on 22nd celebrating together with ISNHS as they totally defeated their competitors at the Longganisa Streetdancing contest. The team win was a total high and sharing the moment with the people I love made me feel that the success was ours as well.

The level of excitement was maintained on the 23rd when we got to witness the Agtubtubo Clash of Talents, being right there when Dionela and Gigi De Lana performed live was a major I can't believe this happened to me moment-they were so full of life and it was just the right setting to chill with the gang and have fun.

I must admit that the 24th just sneaked up on me, and it turned out to be my best day in secret. Everyone else was probably busy admiring dance sport club's technical skill, I was just captivated by the presence Mr. Gino Padilla alone. Without a doubt, his voice was so beautiful that it literally gave me goosebumps. There is a reason why the great singer is a star, as I said the hits I was looking forward to weren't even there but that iconic voice hearing it live it was just amazing. I was just there hanging out with my friends, completely engrossed in the experience that was pure nostalgia and talent.

Today, the 25th, we really did end on a high, the Grand Parade was pure, chaotic joy. We all laughed like children as we crazily competed for candies, calendars, and even tissues that were being thrown from the floats. The moment of the day for me was when I was just about to take a picture of the DWRS float, and one of the guys actually spotted me and gave me a shoutout over the speakers! My friends screamed their heads off, and we were all so happy and laughing. Looking at my camera roll now, it’s just a blur of great music, funny prizes, and memories that I know we’re going to be talking about for ‍‌‍‍‌years.
