Insight on the 2025 National Science Month Celebration

The theme of this year’s National Science Month, “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,” reminds us that the future depends on how brave we are in exploring the things we don’t yet understand. Science is not just about solving equations or doing experiments in the lab—it’s about finding answers to the challenges we face in everyday life.


From fighting climate change to developing new medicines and technologies, science continues to guide us toward a better tomorrow.
Science and society are always connected. Every breakthrough in technology, energy, or medicine changes how we live, work, and interact with one another. Looking ahead, innovations like artificial intelligence, renewable energy, biotechnology, and space exploration will continue to shape our world. But these changes also bring responsibilities—society has to make sure that science is used ethically and for the good of everyone, not just a few.

This theme also inspires us to see the “unknown” not as something scary but as something full of possibilities. If we are willing to explore, ask questions, and innovate, we can discover solutions that improve people’s lives and protect the planet. But it also means working together—scientists, leaders, students, and communities—because the challenges of the future are too big for one group alone.

In the end, science is more than knowledge; it is hope. It gives us the power to imagine and create a brighter future. By celebrating National Science Month, we are reminded that every discovery, no matter how small, can bring us closer to a society that thrives on innovation, responsibility, and progress.

A Greener Tomorrow

  Participating in the clean-up drive was a truly eye-opening experience that left a lasting impression on me. It not only allowed me to contribute to the community but also made me realize the significant impact of our daily actions on the environment. Witnessing the amount of waste and debris that had accumulated in our surroundings was a stark reminder of the importance of responsible waste management and the need for sustainable practices. What struck me most was the collective effort of volunteers from diverse backgrounds coming together to make a difference. Seeing people unite for a common cause, despite their differences, was truly inspiring. Nutri Spark

 President Ferdinand Marcos declared July as Nutrition Month under Presidential Decree No.491, signed on June 25, 1974, according to the National Nutrition Council. This decree aimed to raise awareness among Filipinos about the importance of good nutrition. Fifty-one years have passed since the declaration of Nutrition Month —thankfully, it still strives and spreads awareness among Filipinos, especially students. In Ilocos Sur National High School, every July, we celebrate Nutrition Month by doing many activities, such as poster making, cooking competitions, and many more But on July 14, our ICT teacher, Ma'am Evelyn, unexpectedly announced that there would be a Nutri Quiz that day.
